If you bought into Niche Socializer, what do you think of it?

Here is the place to let everyone know about your experience with Niche Socializer (NS) - positive or negative. Leave a comment.

This blog is totally independent of Niche Socializer and set up because it seems that Andrew X (why is he hiding?) and Steven Lee Jones do not want their customers to know who each other are or to contact each other...

Now isn't that curious for promoters of social networking software?

  1. Yes. Has anyone made money? Or is it a waist of money?

  2. It's a load of crap. A complete waste of money. The last support ticket I placed took them 4 weeks to respond to. A hyped up piece of rubbish.

Andrew X? What sort if name is that? Sounds like somebody with something to hide.

  3. Eight things you should know about Niche Socializer (NS):

    1. Every time someone visits a page of a Niche Socializer site, it creates a call to their licensing system. There were several weeks shortly after they started when pages of ALL NS sites were taking a MINIMUM of 30 seconds (often much longer) to load. This not only made for a zero-quality user experience, but made the site virtually impossible to administer.

    2. The software is a version of PHPFox, which costs one third of the price of NS and has something of a user community to support it. (But PHPFox presumably suffers the same licensing and related server problems, see above.)

    3. The licensing mechanism also means that you do not have control of your site or your business. They can pull the plug on it and cripple the software at any time.

    4. Sites created with NS suck in terms of design. They are old fashioned in web design terms. As the NS owners have not been very successful creating sites, examples are difficult to find. On a few of the sites of people who were promoting NS as affiliates, you may find links to some that commenters have created, if comments are allowed. Andrew X and Steven Lee Jones have even pulled the working demo site they set up when the videos came out (http://www.guitarchillout.com)

    5. It is extremely difficult to get a refund if you are dissatisfied. Because the NS support is so very slow and unhelpful, it is easy for the 30 day trial period to pass by before you get to the stage where you think 'enough is enough' and ask for a refund. At that point they will say that it is too late and, although you may eventually get a refund by making a nuisance of yourself and threatening to sue and/or report them to the authorities, it is difficult and drawn-out. They hope you will give up.

    6. Did I mention that NS Support is abysmal?

    7. There are lots of affiliate sites still up around the internet singing Niche Socializer 's praises. Ignore them all.

    8. If you want to set up social networking sites and do not want to use Ning, check out Boonex Dolphin. (Google it.) The Dolphin software isn't perfect but there is a big and helpful user community; it has a much more modern look; they have a clear development path to improve it and, best of all, if you let your site carry some advertising for the software it is free... which means that you can try out a potential niche with only some time commitment!
